Stain on Carpet.......DIY Stain Removal
Spills happen, and the best way to prevent a hard-to-clean stains in the carpet is to take quick action. The longer the carpet is soiled, the higher the chances of a permanent stain. Of course, sometimes you don’t find the problem until it has been set for hours or even days. If that’s the case, you can still take action to minimise the damage.
Step 1
SCOOP THE GOOP

Spills happen, and the best way to prevent a hard-to-clean stains in the carpet is to take quick action. The longer the carpet is soiled, the higher the chances of a permanent stain. Of course, sometimes you don’t find the problem until it has been set for hours or even days. If that’s the case, you can still take action to minimise the damage.
Step 2
BLOTTING
After you have removed the majority of solid particles, you can blot the area with paper towels. An absorbent terry cloth towel is even better for this job. Don’t blot the area with newspaper or something that may release dye into the carpet. Work from the outer edge of the stain into the centre. As the towel absorbs liquid, move it to a dry section of the cloth or get a replacement.
The idea is to get as much of the remaining liquid out of the area as possible. While you work, keep an eye on the towel. As long as you are getting the moisture of the spill onto the towel, you are making progress. Keep blotting until you are not getting any more transferred to your towel. Never rub. Rubbing can fuzz or distort carpet fibres, as well as spread the stain. This method may be all you need to do to remove the spot, especially if the place is fresh and still wet.

Step 3

SPILL OR STAIN IDENTIFICATION
Before applying any stain removal solution to your carpet, try to identify the source of the stain. Different stains require different cleaning procedures. Always pre-test the cleaning solution you are going to use on an inconspicuous spot. Without over-wetting, apply a retail spotting agent or solution such as the ones recommended here. Use clean, white un-printed materials. Never use all-purpose spray cleaners, bleach, or alkaline detergents. These products can lead to permanent damage to your carpets.
